Conformity vs Autonomy02.sep.25

Dear Audience,

Random thought I just had cuz I was mentally listing things I will not allow myself to do before studying (spacehey, emails, youtube, music etc.), and I’ve been doing this for the past few days (usually I’m not this unfocused lol so there was no need for this kind of listing, but ever since I discovered new catchy and awfully depressing vocaloid songs I’ve lowk become addicted to them).

Anddd suddenly it clicked for me just now; what if imposing all these restrictions on myself is subconsciously causing me to seek them out more and hence further impairing my focus? So what if the main thing that should be done to avoid distractions is not to restrict, but to wholly convince yourself you don’t want to be distracted? (might go a bit into delusional thinking, but personally, it’s logical that if you’re restricting yourself from certain things, it means you don’t want to do them)

Anyway yeah just a random thought I had just now!

bro I rlly thought I was onto smth but reading this again is making me go, “duh if you don’t allow something you’re gonna want it more” like that’s reverse psych 101
